In Dimensions of Mind, Tarthang Tulku writes that he is critical of meditation if one’s practice does not move beyond a subject having a meditation experience. If the subject spies on the mind, or constantly watches and dictates to the mind, that only reinforces a dualistic structure of experience, shaping the world according to I, me, and mine. Rinpoche has consistently warned of the danger of this approach to meditation. In this class, through practice and discussion of Openness Mind (pp. 96–124) and Dimensions of Mind (pp.192–228), we explore ways of “being in the center” and “working with whatever level of mind we are experiencing.”

Prerequisite: Meditation experience and some familiarity with Tarthang Tulku’s writings or by consent of instructor.
